INTERACT DRAWINGS: DIGITAL IMAGING
by LWO

A series of spontaneous drawings, made in an interactive way by the artist LWO with a computer. In this performance, the computer is not a mere medium or instrument, but a partner game, it retains its freedom of choice on the composition. The roles are the following, the man creates the line, the machine takes care of filling (depending on the line, and on the movement which was used to draw the line). A strange relationship established with the computer that is co-creator. The machine proceeds with both panache and determination while remaining discreet on the way to proceed.

The software allows you to customize (varying) the images after the fact. The color and the type of the line, the colors of the filling and of the background can be changed (customized). The size of the image can also be changed since it's a vectorial image. Beyond the initial creation (the line and the composition), everyone can customize the settings and create its own picture. This leads to reconsider the concept of "artistic work", supposed to be unique and unchangeable. Here, one might speak of "source work" (original) and "personalized work".

COLLAGE
by MARIA BARANOVA

Maria Baranova, young Moscow artist, photographer and successful designer. She refers to her collages as “visual poetry”. They combine images with texts to form a united masterpiece – a picture poem. Each of them is a separate story based more on the laws of cinematography than on the classic collage-poster. Combining the images: photos and fonts – Maria “edits” her film-noir creations. Her world is scary to live in, but what she talks about is a part of our everyday life. And at the same time these are the fears we hide in the deepest corners of our mind. The artist is not scared to search for them – or maybe this is her way to struggle her own.

“I don’t have any favorite style or profession, I am an artmaker, doing visual art with a photo camera, paints, garbage, pencils and pens. I combine them or use each separately but I never stop at something: my techniques and materials are just the mediums of self-expression. One idea is better in photo, the other needs pencil.”
